ear candling

Ear Candling is a technique for the gentle removal of wax, flaky skin, bacteria, parasites and other foreign substances from the ear canal.  This therapy is also known as ear coning and been used since ancient times. It is an alternative and holistic approach to healing various complaints related to inner ear blockages.

The candles I use are made of muslin cloth dipped in high quality beeswax with beneficial herbs added.  It is hollow on the inside. A flame resistant cloth is draped over your face and the cone shaped "candle" (pictured above) is placed in the ear.  The top end of the cone is then ignited which is said to create a gentle upward vacuum that will remove wax, dry skin and other substances from the ear canal and deposit them in the lower portion of the candle which is removed when it is still about 2-3 inches long.

An ear candling session lasts about 30 minutes and both ears are "coned" once using one candle per ear. (Occasionally two candles are needed for an ear, but this is not common.)  During Ear Candling treatments important acupuncture points and reflex zones are stimulated, causing relaxation of the muscles in and around the ear.  This helps the ears and sinuses to open up, thereby allowing the benefits to continue after the session is complete.  The treatments are relaxing and completely pain free.
